Prelimenary Examinations
Prelim Examinations
Prelimenary Exams
Prelim Exams
Prelims!

Exams which you sit under final exam conditions, based upon the final papers of the past years, and given to you for many reasons:

So the exam board can have evidence to suggest you can pass, if you happen to fail the final exam

To get a feel of what the exam will be like

So you know what you need to revise more (which is more often that not, everything.)

The cheeky buggers make them harder than the actual exams, lull you into a false sense of worry and by the time you’re to sit the final exams, you find it’s actually easier than what some teachers make it out to be.

My point is that I have them in about a month’s time. English. History. Politics. Music. Fuck.

Ahhh I got a conditional offer for Abertay University to study Computing! I just need to get another two Bs this year and I will have a place! After completing the horrors of UCAS, I sent away my application, only to have it returned.. twice. The system sucks when it’s not used efficiently and correctly. I wasn’t sure if I’d made the deadline, but I sent it away over a month ago, and I still see people sending theirs away now.

But I guess I’m almost committed to studying computers, their workings, their ins and outs and generally interesting stuff (and boring database stuff too) for four years. I really hope there’s a job at the end of it..

Oh well, I shant moan about it, but rather look forward to it and be grateful that I have received an offer to the university that I actually want to go to!

No I don’t mean birthday parties, where the only things in goodie bags are party poppers, a single sweet and a toy whistle. I’m talking about the house parties that 16+ year olds host while their parents are out. Hmm… not my thing at all I’m afraid. I’ve never been to one for a number of reasons, but I’d rather not either.

For one, I hate alcohol. I have a liver disease that makes my hangovers last 10x longer, so not so good. Also, I hate seeing how stupid it makes people. Thirdly, it tastes like shite for the most part (until you are too numb to feel anything).

You may think I’m seeming like some sort of sulking nerd who lives with his computer. Well, you’d be partially right, at least! So I like spending time on this machine. Through my eyes that is better than going to some party for a few hours of “good times”, only to wake up the next morning feeling like shit and having to waste the day in bed.

What. Is. The. Point.

Maybe it’s the way I’ve been encouraged to think, or maybe it’s the way that I feel myself… but does one really need alcohol to have a good time? Surely not.

However, if I got invited to one of these paties I’d probably go anyway. And, to much of my friends’ disappointment, I would hog the soft drinks.

Oh yeah, the other thing is being sick. Why put yourself through it?

Anyway yeah, that’s just my thought for a day since I haven’t posted anything in almost a month.

Today, no matter who or where you are in the world should be a day of peace and reflection. I am going to be serious in this post, because I want to mirror the effect of war upon society.

It was on this day 93 years ago that the armistice was signed between Britain and Germany for the most part, to cease fighting. Rightfully enough, who would remember it in our lifetime? We young people are regarded as unwise, where the nature of such a great war is concerned. Even someone like me who has studied the First World War to an extent cannot possibly imagine how the soldiers must have felt. They fought for the greater good; peace of nations, freedom, equality and happiness. This patriotic sacrafice leads me to remember in my one-minute silence, their troubles, their lives, their personality, and everything that made them unique.

Seven days ago also marked the death day of one particular soldier; Wilfred Owen. He taught English before the War, and wrote poetry which I enjoy, during his time in the trenches. Notable works include Dulce et Decorum Est; The Sentry and Futility. They are all brilliant poems which opened my eyes to the war genre of writing. As he is one of my inspirations, I have also remembered his death today. He was so close to the end of the War.

And to that, the War itself. Let me just say this, because it’s true. Most things around you today are ramifications of the First World War. No, even the Second World War doesn’t come close to the terrific shock that people got from 1914 – 1918. The way I see it, people in the Second World War had some idea of what such a big war would be like thanks to the First. But there hadn’t been a great war like the First, for at least 100 years prior to it. The British government had expected it to be over by the nearest Christmas. However it was three and a half years.

Thoughts, thoughts, thoughts. Have a think, have remembrance, have respect.

This is my composition for Advanced Higher Music in school. Okay so it’s music if you’re not from Scotland. Have a listen. It has a sort of fantasy genre, with a mix between Narnia films, Harry Potter, Guild Wars and Oblivion. But maybe that’s because the HP games, Guild Wars and Oblivion all had the same composer for their music, who actually inspires me a great deal to do this type of music.

Here’s the video anyway:

I am sure for those of you in Britain reading this, you will know that you have to apply to universities through Ucas. I suppose it makes things a bit easier, but it isn’t half a bitch to complete. And the personal statement being the most important thing besides your grades, having to constantly draft and draft better versions till it’s perfect for the institution of your choice to read.

I face two problems: the first one is that I haven’t done Higher Maths, and most universities Computer Science courses require, or strongly recommend it; and some of the universities require you to have done all your highers in one sitting. For the Englishmen, highers are the equivalent of an A-level, although a-levels are slightly harder methinks.

GRRR who said it was worth going to uni…. nah it is, im joking. Much better than flipping burgers for £5 an hour.

Omegle is a place you go to talk to strangers. In theory. In reality however, 97% of people you find on there are horny buggers looking for a one night stand, or atleast some form of cyber sex. The thing is, it’s true! I occasionally go on, and I can count on one hand how many times I have actually had a decent, lengthy conversation with someone not intent on satisfying their dick.

The conversations don’t usually get past the “asl” stage. That stands for age, sex and location. Someone types that, without a question mark to find out these three pieces of info. To a newcomer, it’s a piece of non-descriptive bullshit laid out on a page. I try to procrastinate the question for as long as I can by asking other stuff before he gets a chance to.

And if you tell them your a guy, you get the message saying that he has disconnected. This usually means he is a guy, looking for a girl to satisfy his needs. This conveys the senseless, feelingness nature that about 60% of people online have. They have no consideration for other people’s feelings. They are honestly robots, programmed to do a specific task; to find out whether you are a guy or not. If you are, tough luck.

And then there’s those who are illiterate. I asked someone how they were a few minutes ago, and the response I got was: “f n u?” – It is someone’s lazy, feeble attempt at saying, “fine, and you?”
If I didn’t know better, I would have mistaken him for a two year old learning how to put those magnetic letters onto a fridge. I always tell the illiterates to speak properly. They either disconnect, submit to my superiority and (try) to speak properly, or rage at me.

Oh dear, what has it come to? I’m pretty sure the guy who invented the internet (his name has flown from my mind) did not intend his design to be a breeding ground for pricks.

Yes, cold Britain. I was just outside with a friend and almost locked myself out of my phone because I couldn’t type my password correctly. It doesn’t help that my nose orgasms every ten seconds. It’s made worse by the freezing cold air and wind.

Warm heaters and sizzling porkchops (BETTER than those in Minecraft!) greeted me as I entered my humble homestead. Of course, they have yet to be thrown down my hungry mouth, and thus I found time to write something about this day. What makes things worse is that my dad said winter is coming? Screw school, I’m building a heated greenhouse.
